In manufacturing, routing cards (or travelers) are documents that accompany a production order from start to finish. The automation needed to bridge multiple systems, while managing exceptions seamlessly.
The true challenge was not just processing the perfect scenarios, but ensuring absolute reliability when dealing with incorrect filenames, missing manufacturing parts, duplicate documents, and existing legacy records.
Together with the IT-team of BMT Group (Stijn Caroen and Thomas Verwee), we built the Routing cards automation from the ground up, transforming a basic script requirement into a comprehensive, end-to-end automation.

The power of botique was applied to tackle this automation need.
The bot reads scanned routing cards in PDF from SharePoint, creates or updates the corresponding record in Windchill (PLM Software), and uploads the PDF to connect it to the latest matching part.
To handle exceptions seamlessly, the automation returns structured results, routes each outcome correctly, and sends clear notifications with the precise information needed to resolve any incomplete processing.
With the automation handling the administrative heavy lifting, the Final Inspection team now has significantly more time freed up to focus on their core work and quality control.
